The Games are over and the results are in!

The Top Female CrossFitter for 2008 is Caity Matter of Gahanna, OH, where she trains with Rogue Fitness. Tanya Wagner took second place and Gillian Mounsey took third.

The Top Male CrossFitter for 2008 is Jason Khalipa of CrossFit Unlimited in Milpitas, CA. Josh Everett came in second, with Jeremy Thiel in third.

The Affiliate Cup was won by the team from CrossFit Oakland.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all the volunteers, spectators, and competitors for a great weekend!

I have been CrossFitting now for three months with the Black Box. I have been competing in sport since the age of 2 when I started gymnastics.

Now, after 28 years I have found my home as an athlete - how I wish I had happened on CrossFit long ago. This is by far the hardest I have ever worked and the most fun I have ever had in pursuit of skill and athleticism.

I expect the games to be a showcase and celebration of the best and most dedicated CrossFitters. Of course, I expect the level of competition to be exceptional - the intensity to be unparalleled. I am honored just to be in the presence of my CrossFit role models (that I watch endless video hours of all night long). I embrace the opportunity to go head to head with other athletes that hold the CrossFit philosophy of elite fitness and competition as sacred as I do.

As a relative CrossFit newcomer, my weakness is my unfamiliarity with the movements and lack of experience. My personal philosophy is that success lies in the art of practice and I wish I had more time leading up to the games to do so. I do know however that I am a fierce competitor with unbreakable spirit. I play to win and I never ever give up. My strength lies in my ability to focus under any conditions.

I have no idea, nor do I have enough experience to venture a guess as to what the events will be. I'd love to see lots of pull-ups and handstand push-ups (anything upper body), please no wall-ball.

My strategy has been to stick straight to the WOD's as rx'd with some skill work in the areas that I have never done before such as the Olympic lifts. I still do quite a bit of additional running as it is in the nature of my job. Other than that, my level of fitness comes from play. I've never met a monkey bar that I didn't do pull-ups on or a tree that I couldn't climb. So basically, I plan to have a great time, meet great people, be inspired, enjoy every aspect of each event and perform the only way I know how - 110%.

RW- this years Games will have "Standards of Movements" that all of us will have to adhere by. I am guessing that some of us normal Crossfitters will at least be in the mix (the bottom portion of the mix!) with judges watching all the reps. Keep training hard RW and remember:

Gillian, Way to go! You are and inspiration. I agree your arms are awesome but I feel without the great balance of your awesome delts back and traps they would look out of place. It's obvious you train for balance and broad fitness. Good luck at the Games.

The video may be impressive to most, but I trained with her. I know what she can do. I would love to go to the games and just watch the reactions on the peoples faces who see her for the first time. You can't tell by her face how intense she is, makes it look easy.She doesn't know second, if you beat her she'll come right back. Even walking with her, she has to be a step ahead! that competitive. Bring a camera if your attending the compition! I promise, you'll be seeing a lot of her after Julys' games. Go Sunshine!
