What are the CrossFit Games?

“In implementation, this looks like sport. This is revolutionary. It's as distinctive of the program as are the movements and the charter of functionality and variance. Our workouts are competitive events.

The strength and value of CrossFit lies entirely within our dominance of other athletes. This is a truth divined through competition, not debate.”

CrossFit Movie Outtake - Murski on the Pull-ups

MurskiGames_th.jpgEnlarge image

Matt Murski had one of the fastest rounds of 21 in the Thruster/Pull-up workout all day (if not the fastest). He was back to thrusters at 1:03. He started to slow in the round of 15 (1:42), and struggled in the final round of 9, which took 2:22 to complete. His total time was 5:07 (over a dozen competitors finished sub 4min). He talks about his experience in this CrossFit Movie Outtake...[wmv] [mov]

I wonder how many of the athletes who were at the games have continued to this day to default the chest ups as their pullups. I know I personally have gone back to the chin over bar as it didn't get adopted in my gym and to be honest I have a hard enough time with the chin over bar that I didn't feel like I needed to add the chest part quite yet. I know watching OPT's videos that he is still doing chest to bar but it would be cool to hear what the rest are doing.

im only doing chest-to-bar pullups now!

before the new standard, i remember the first time i did a CF WOD with 100+ pullups total I thought, "There's no way I can do 100 pullups." It took me over an hour, but I finished.

I think if your goal is fitness, its always better to challenge yourself and raise the bar (or chest). kipping pullups, BFK pullups, deadhangs, L pullups, front lever pullups, 1 arm pullups - there's always more. I saw over at performance menu the other day, they have something called "big fat pullups" where they kip so high that the belly touches the bar ...

Hey Sevan,
All these teasers are making me really anticipate the release of this movie. I think a while ago it was mentioned that it was due for a somewhat soon release. Could you shed any light on how the development is going? Very excited to watch the full picture! Should be highly motivating.

Hi H,

We are cruising along with the movie. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks we will have a tentative completion date.

I know that is a bit vague... But the process is slow and tedious... We were hoping to have our 1st rough cut by Oct 31st. I don't want to rule that date OUT.. but it looks like we are about 14 days behind schedule, due to other projects that landed on the burner (typical production schedule).

I do love the process! Thanks for your interest!

Pretty cool Sevan, thanks for the posting. I can absolutely understand that its slow and tedious. Whenever completion may be, and I think I speak for thousands on this, we will be very excited.

Might just be that film to show to friends on the fence about Crossfit... talking like a missionary here... too much Koo-laid!
