What are the CrossFit Games?

“In implementation, this looks like sport. This is revolutionary. It's as distinctive of the program as are the movements and the charter of functionality and variance. Our workouts are competitive events.

The strength and value of CrossFit lies entirely within our dominance of other athletes. This is a truth divined through competition, not debate.”

The Games are over and the results are in!

The Top Female CrossFitter for 2008 is Caity Matter of Gahanna, OH, where she trains with Rogue Fitness. Tanya Wagner took second place and Gillian Mounsey took third.

The Top Male CrossFitter for 2008 is Jason Khalipa of CrossFit Unlimited in Milpitas, CA. Josh Everett came in second, with Jeremy Thiel in third.

The Affiliate Cup was won by the team from CrossFit Oakland.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all the volunteers, spectators, and competitors for a great weekend!

Welbourn on Lululemon

At 6'5", 310lbs, John Welbourn is extremely large for a CrossFitter.

He competed in this year's Games, finishing 96th overall, completing all four workouts as Rx'd (think about that hill run and doing 45 pull-ups to the chest at 310lbs!).

Here, in a CrossFit Movie Outtake, John, Sevan, and Brian MacKenzie discuss the relative merits of Lululemon clothing for men... [wmv] [mov]

vaginas....i just spit my coffee all over the keyboard...johnny you are a piece of work...funny shit...

you never know, the clothing might have helped you break 11 minutes on your Fran time at the games...

Yet, he could have done the 95lb thrusters one handed, or just used the newest standard of weight: One Sevan . . . (kind of like a pood, but it talks . . . )

So if I beat him on the run . . . I'll take it. ;-)

By TexasPatrick on September 15, 2008 8:15 AM

That was an out take...nice.

By Welbourn on September 15, 2008 11:49 PM

You are suppose to think it is an outtake.. but really it is product placement.

Rumor has it, they will be providing outfits for male and female competitors next year.

Lulu's hoembase is up here in Vancouver & I can tell u I can't stand that yoga wearing fruit nuggin' crap. I DO NOT allow our male participants to wear any of it, if they do, it is automatic 100 burpees and monthes of relentless ridicule.

I am also a Vancouverite but I train at Crossfit Vancouver and I will rock the occational Lululemmon piece of apparal and I aint afraid to admit it...all of us men should be kissing Chip Wilson's ass (the guy who started and still owns 51% of Lululemon) for coming up with a socially acceptable way for women to wear ass hugging pants that we get to enjoy. A fine rear end in a pair of lululemons is a beautiful thing.

Also the rumour around the games was that John likes to wear their mens underwear. Just what I heard.

By The Pie on September 16, 2008 9:28 AM

I'll agree witht the lululemons for yoginis and ladies to wear.

I'll be damned if I wear it though.

By Blair Lowe on September 16, 2008 2:40 PM

yes, it is true. Welbourn wears LULU panties.

I wasnt sure until right now they made mens clothes. I just assumed that guys wearing Lululemon were just wearing the clothes for bigger girls. And I am pretty sure Lululemon only makes thongs and that would be uncomfortable because i have male parts.

I do know for sure that Sevan's girlfriend wears underwear with dick holes in it.

Next time the pizza is on you.

By Welbourn on September 17, 2008 7:30 PM

hey john, i know you are talking about his other girlfriend carey, and not me...

thanks for the pizza

By hayley on September 19, 2008 10:59 PM
